The Compliance Engine is a cloud-based reporting and tracking system developed by Brycer. Many fire departments and code enforcement agencies use it to manage required fire and life safety inspections, testing, and maintenance (ITM) reports.
Instead of relying on paper copies or scattered emails, the Compliance Engine provides a centralized dashboard where authorities can quickly see:
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
When a fire department (or AHJ) adopts the Compliance Engine, contractors like FPS are required to submit inspection and service reports through the system.
This process ensures:
Example: After FPS completes a fire sprinkler inspection, we don’t just hand over a PDF. We also upload the report into the Compliance Engine, which instantly notifies the AHJ and updates the compliance record.
What’s AHJ? AHJ stands for Authority Having Jurisdiction.
In fire protection, the AHJ is the organization, office, or individual responsible for enforcing fire and building codes in a specific area.
Examples of AHJs:
So, when we say “reports must be submitted to the AHJ,” it means they must go to whoever enforces the fire code in that jurisdiction (most often the local fire department or fire marshal’s office).
For contractors, uploading reports means an extra step and a per-report fee.
But for fire marshals and property owners, it’s a game-changer:
Properties stay safer and better protected from fire risks
As your trusted fire protection partner, FPS ensures that all inspection and service reports are uploaded to the Compliance Engine when required. This guarantees your property stays in compliance, transparent, and safe.
